The Seven Deadly Sins

My first is an exaggerated sense of self-worth.

My second is an excessive attachment to wealth and the desire to accumulate.

My third is the pursuit of the unrestrained pleasures of physical love.

My fourth is the feeling of covetousness at the sight of others' happiness.

My fifth is the fault of the one who loves to eat good food.

My sixth is the transient violent state resulting from the feeling of having been offended.

My seventh is the repugnnace toward work and effort. A taste for inaction.

My entirety is the willful transgression from divine law.

THEME

In this charade of seven, I explore the world of sin.

Everyone has probably already sinned? Where does each sin touch a person? We could encounter one on the street perhaps even be one's embodiment!

All creation will take place in our universe of modern times, where shopping has become a war, where sitting alone in front of our television we dream is to be inside the little screen... where spying upon one's neighbor is no longer just curiosity...

"One has never believed so much as when one no longer believes in anything."

De Las Cases

MY WORK

My work on this piece lies not only in the choreography. The music and text play a role parallel to that of dance.

In fact, my approach to choreography is multidisciplinary, which allows me to use every part of the movement and to highlight the qualities of each performer.

This is why I call for dancers in the text, actors at ease with movement and "live" musicians.

THE MUSIC

As one can can see the piece is based on the seven deadly sins.

Each sin has its own ambiance.

That's why I chose seven swiss composers, a composer for each sin, and four musicians who will perform these compositions on stage.

In the process of developing my different choreographic works, I have found  that the choice of music is playing an increasingly vital role.

The musician is the voice of the dancer.
